Travellers to be hit by fuel price increases
(ANSA) – Rome, March 24 – Italians will be heading out of cities for Easter vacations mainly on Friday and Saturday and returning above all on Tuesday, police information service Viabilità Italia said on Thursday.
Weather forecasts point to typical spring weather over the weekend, with stable conditions, light winds and temperatures in-line with seasonal averages.
Police are set to reinforce the number of patrols watching the roads over the weekend, Viabilità Italia said.
Consumer organisation Codacons said that those travelling over the weekend would have to deal with a 3.7% increase in petrol prices over the past month, and a 4.1% rise in diesel prices.
The fuel price increases will contribute to a 45 million euro hit to Italian consumers travelling over Easter, Codacons estimated.
