In tutto il mondo, più di 60 milioni di donne costrette alla fuga ed esposte a un elevato rischio di violenza di genere. Ad affermarlo è l’UNHCR, l’Agenzia ONU per i rifugiati. Sebbene questa violenza – afferma l’Agenzia – rimanga tra le violazioni dei diritti umani più diffuse in tutto il mondo, i rischi sono maggiori per le donne che vivono situazioni di conflitto o che sono state costrette a fuggire dalle loro case. Nel lungo elenco di rischi e abusi affrontati dai rifugiati e dai migranti che si muovono lungo le rotte verso il Mediterraneo – aggiunge l’UNHCR – continuano a essere segnalati la violenza sessuale e lo sfruttamento, la riduzione in schiavitù e la tratta di esseri umani. Secondo le ultime stime, il 90% delle donne che si spostano lungo la rotta del Mediterraneo è sopravvissuta a violenza. Il progetto Codacons “A Better Future for Women” vuole appunto fornire supporto e orientamento alle rifugiate e facilitare l’incontro tra domanda e offerta di lavoro.

Women Fleeing Worldwide: The Alarm Raised by the UN Refugee Agency
Around the world, more than 60 million women are forced to flee and are exposed to a heightened risk of gender-based violence. This is the statement from UNHCR, the United Nations Refugee Agency. According to the Agency, while this violence remains one of the most widespread human rights violations globally, the risks are significantly greater for women living in conflict situations or those who have been forced to flee their homes.
Among the long list of risks and abuses faced by refugees and migrants along the Mediterranean routes, the UNHCR continues to report sexual violence, exploitation, enslavement, and human trafficking. According to the latest estimates, 90% of women traveling along the Mediterranean route have survived violence.
In response to this urgent issue, the Codacons project A Better Future for Women aims to provide support and guidance to refugee women, facilitating the match between job demand and supply. This initiative is designed to offer women who have suffered violence the opportunity to rebuild their lives with dignity, empowering them through access to the job market and social integration.
