Holiday spending didn’t stop deflation says Codacons

(ANSA) – Rome, August 31 – Not even holiday spending over the summer has managed to stop Italian deflation, the Codacons consumer group said Wednesday after ISTAT reported -0.1% annual deflation in August.
“We are still seeing a full-blown price alarm in our country,” said Codacons President Carlo Rienzi, urging the government to issue incentives to stoke consumer spending and lift the economy.
