The class action is not only for Italian travelers but to all citizens of any nationality who were on board the cruise ship.

All passengers can partecipate by filling out the form on this LINK

“This is an accident of unprecedented severity – says President Carlo Rienzi – All those who were on board the ship are entitled to be compensated not only for material damage (cost vacation, personal property lost or damaged, and any physical damage), but also to moral ones, such as fear and terror suffered, and the risks related to physical integrity. It ‘is inadmissible, despite the sophisticated equipment on board such vessels, installed in order to avoid clashes aground, such accidents occur ”

Adhering to the class action the passengers could become civil party to the criminal proceeding held in Grosseto, Italy in which CODACONS is already established as injured party to claim damages directly to captain Schettino and other officers of the cruise ship.

Obviously, this international class action does not preclude a subsequent class action in Italy and an action for damages based on The Code of Administrative Procedure against the port authorities and other public authorities who have failed the duties controls intended to prevent such serious accidents.
