SHIPWRECK “COSTA CONCORDIA”: CODACONS LAUNCHES THE CLASS ACTION IN FAVOR OF PASSENGERS. COMPENSATION OF €10,000 FOR EACH TRAVELER
COMPENSATION OF €10,000 FOR EACH TRAVELER SERIOUS ACCIDENT: THE JUDICIAL AUTHORITY MUST INVESTIGATE FOR CULPABLE DISASTER AND SHIPWREK
After the serious accident involving the cruise ship Costa Concordia, sunk near the island of Giglio, Codacons started the preparation of a class action against the shipping company which aims to get passengers boat compensation for all damages. “This is an incident of unprecedented severity”– says President Carlo Rienzi – All passengers are entitled to compensation not only for material damage (holiday cost, personal property lost or damaged and any physical damage), but also for the moral ones, like fear and terror suffered, and the risks related to physical integrity. We believe that compensation can’t be less than € 10,000 for each passenger, and we invite all travelers who were on board the Costa Concordia to join the class action by filling out the form linked on the website www.codacons.it“.
“It is unacceptable that such incident happened despite the sophisticated equipment on board installed in order to avoid collision and stranding – adds Carlo Rienzi – The judicial authority should investigate for culpable disaster and shipwreck to clarify the responsibility of who had the task of steering the cruise ship in that stretch of sea.”
